Julia Broome-Robinson – Brass

Julia Broome-Robinson teaches brass at Desert Ridge Music Academy. She is currently working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant while pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the supervision of Dr. Brad Edwards at Arizona State University. She teaches several undergraduate-level students, acts as Social Media Coordinator for the trombone studio, and assists in the direction of the ASU Desert Bones trombone ensemble.

An active performer, Julia regularly plays with the Redlands Symphony Orchestra in addition to a diverse range of chamber ensembles, including the Arizona Contemporary Music Ensemble and the ASU Desert Bones. Julia’s current projects include discussions of a new work for solo trombone by celebrated contemporary trombone soloist and composer John Kenny, and research into the development of a new podcast and accompanying web resource that seeks to celebrate the diversity of female trombonists across many international music-making contexts.

A Pacific Northwest native, Julia finished her Bachelor of Music degree in 2012, graduating summa cum laude from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. She went on to complete a Master of Music degree at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C., where she studied under members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and performed frequently as both a soloist and a chamber musician.
