Grace Yen – Piano

Grace Yen teaches piano lessons at Desert Ridge Music Academy. Grace believes music is for everyone and is inherent in the human design. She is passionate about showing students the path to a deep appreciation and understanding of musicality. Grace understands tailoring study to each individual student while always encouraging them to go higher. Lessons are always organized, concise, and thorough, allowing students to advance quickly. Grace is excited to help students achieve their goals!

Grace has received private piano instruction for over 12 years and is certified in all the levels of piano. She has taught piano for many years in the metropolitan Phoenix and Tucson areas, instructing students of all ages and levels including special needs. Aspects of her teaching include but are not limited to classical repertoire, piano technique, music theory, sight reading, ear training, composition, and improvisation. Grace has been published in the national journal “American Music Teacher”, been elected onto the Board of Directors for PMTA, served as Awards Chair for the ASMTA music evaluation program, trained as a band pianist, served as a church pianist/accompanist, won multiple piano competitions, been awarded multiple piano scholarships, and appeared in over 40 piano recitals/performances. Grace is affiliated with Music Teachers National Association, and is active in state and local musical associations. Her students at DRMA submit original musical compositions for publication in a national piano students’ magazine and they participate in the Arizona Study Program (nationally recognized evaluation program), local Piano Ensemble, and annual Music at the Mall.
